Until 80s and 90s there was no such concept of automated cars. People pretty much relied on the manual transmission cars at that time. Today the ratio of automatic cars vs. manual cars in Pakistan seems to be quite close now, with manual still in the lead (though the exact statistics are still unknown).
Automated cars are generally popular among women and the youngsters who prefer them for their convenience where you they not have to worry about changing the gears and the car can pretty much drive itself. But the some hard-core drivers still believe that the drive of the manual cars is fun and thrilling at the same time and they do not consider the drive of an automatic car what we call real driving. But this cannot deny the fact that the world is shifting from manual to automatic cars and so is the people of Pakistan. It is anticipated that in the upcoming years manual cars will lose their worth because the shift we talked about. It is interesting to know that less than 3% of the cars sold in the USA have a manual transmission. Same is the case with Australia. It is just Europe and Asia where manual cars have dominance over automatic cars but this trend is expected to shift over years.
Automatic cars are being now preferred in Pakistan for the convenience they offer. Young drivers and women prefer them because they don’t have to master the clutch and changing gears, rather they can fully focus on the road without worrying about changing gears. The manual cars demands more effort and practice as compared to the automatic cars. Whereas automatic provides more flexibility and freedom for the driver. Recently the ratio of driving in women and young adults has grown tremendously in Pakistan and it’s good to know there are automatic cars around so that they can drive their kids to school or students can go to university without any hassle, driving their own automatic cars.
It is observed that in large cities automatic cars dominate manual cars but in small cities and most of the rural areas manual cars dominate because of the freedom of gears and low market price of manual cars too. Yes you heard it right, manual cars seems to be cheaper as compared to the automatic cars but it doesn’t stop automatic cars lovers from buying automatic cars even though they are less efficient on fuel and offer high initial price.
